Day 2: Nation Focus - Adoption

There are upwards of 6,000 children across the UK needing adoption every year.  Each year in England alone there are around 4,000 children waiting in foster care, unable to live with their birth families.  These children are from a great variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds,  many of these children are of school age and over half of them are in groups of brothers and sisters who need to be placed together.  These children have had unsettled starts in life and all will have experienced some form of loss by being taken into care.  Some of them will have been abused and/or neglected and all will have experienced moves and uncertainty and their resulting behaviour may be challenging.

Adopted children's early experiences mean they can often struggle with relationships and day-to-day life. Although this can present certain challenges, being an adoptive parent is also hugely rewarding and provides the stable, understanding and loving homes these children need.  Some people arrive at adoption following experiences of infertility and for some, adoption is their first choice for starting or extending their family.

As we pray for an ending of abortion in our nation this will more than likely see an increase in the need for adoption so as we pray, we pray for those children currently in the system and those that will be in the future, that God would encounter them, protect them and reveal Himself as their heavenly father. We also pray parents who have adopted or who plan to adopt that they would receive wisdom and guidance from the Lord, that they would raise Godly children who love the Lord and are secure in who they are and that they are loved.  Finally we pray that God would move on the heart of His church in this nation, that He would stir many to adoption, that we would see every child housed with Godly parents, that this generation would be redeemed and that hope would prevail.

Key Verse:

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Rom 8:15

Prayer Starter:

Proclamation
We proclaim today Lord you are Jehovah Rohe, the Shepherd, the one who restores, guides, directs and comforts the ones you love. You bring security, safety and protection. You are the God of the spirits of all mankind (Num 16:22). You send the spirit of your son into our hearts, the spirit that calls out Abba Father (Gal 4:6).

Declaration
We declare that those little ones who have been placed outside their natural parental care will find guidance, direction and nurture in their adoptive families. We declare that they will have the revelation and the experience of knowing you are the Father of their spirits and know that you have adopted them into your family Lord by the power of the work of Christ on the cross and through His shed sacrificial blood. We declare that your Spirit will enter each heart that they may call out Abba to their spiritual Father, regardless of the history of their natural ortheir adoptive parenting. We declare that each will come into the fullness of their Godly inheritance in Christ.

Blessing
We bless you children today awaiting adoption or in adoptive families with a fresh sense of safety and security and with an assurance of being loved and protected. We bless you with contentment and the certain knowledge that all you need will be provided and that you are not alone. We bless you with the benefits of unfailing love towards you. We bless you with healing throughout your generational lines and the deep joy of knowing that your boundaries are secure and that you were made to experience kindness and honour. We bless you with the knowledge that God gave you life and that He preserves your life by His care and He has prepared good things for your life and future.
