Day 1: National Focus - Abortion

The church has influenced legal thinking and the ethical discussions surrounding abortion since 13th century.  Until the early 20th century the law aimed at reducing access to legal abortion. Thousands of women attempting illegal abortion died from medication poisoning or instrumentally induced septicaemia. In 1967-8 The Abortion Law legalised abortion under certain conditions. This was seen primarily as a move to prevent maternal deaths. It failed to recognise that the legalising of the destruction of life was opening the door of permission to hardening of hearts and an elevation ofconvenience of lifestyle over sanctity of life. As we move on in21st century western society, these trends, increasingly influenced by secular humanism, continue to gain momentum, promoting Abortion Rights and failing to value the unborn child.

These issues will always remain challenging but the body of Christ must again enter in to the exploration of these ethical challenges and bring to light the diverse pain and confusion often experienced after abortions among women both within the Christian community and those currently beyond it.

Will we be those who are shaped by God's word and allow Him to speak to our society and the Law again about His perspective on Life and Death?  Let us join together in seeking an end to abortion in our nation.

Key Verse:

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
  Ps. 139:13-18

We proclaim that Yahweh is the self existent one who sustains everything He has created. He wills each one into existence. He writes the story of our life and designs the treasures that we have. Each person has been in His mind since before the creation of the world. His covenant blessings are immense and as we partner with Yahweh we receive blessings and our birthright of life, peace and joy.

Declaration
We declare that those in authority and leadership in Government and Health will have fresh revelation of Yahweh, the creator God. That they would know again the Word of God and that laws and policies would once more be shaped and formed in accordance with God's nature and character. We negate all policies , agendas and decisions which are contrary to God's law.

Blessing
We bless the leadership of the nation to have a spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel,     might and a fear of the Lord. We bless each one to have the mind of Christ, enabling them to make divinely directed decisions concerning the issues surrounding Abortion. We bless them with creative ideas bringing the nation back into alignment with God's will and purposes and that Government would act justly, love mercy and walk in humility concerning the laws and practices involving Abortion.

Day 1: Prayer for Image - Clients

Image runs a crisis pregnancy helpline, which provides a haven of safety and wisdom to women who find themselves in life situations governed more by political struggles than by care for their well being and health.    Alongside this they offer support and counselling for woman and families as well as visiting prisons for child loss counselling.  The work they do is so important as they speak life over the lives of so many from around the city and region.

The people they come into contact with are from all walks of life and Image serve as a lifeline, a light in the midst of great darkness.  We want to pray for the clients that have accessed Image, those in contact right now and that the Lord would draw even more to them in the future that God’s truth, light and life would abound in our nation.

Key Verse:

that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.   Eph 3:16-19

Prayer starter:

Proclamation
We proclaim that you are the Wordand that you are God and you created everything there is. We proclaim that life itself is in you and this life gives light to everyone. We proclaim that it is the Spirit who gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. The very words you have spoken are spirit and life.

Declaration
We declare that individuals and families struggling with life issues will hear and receive your words of wisdom and comfort enabling them to make sound, informed decisions. We declare that they will hear of centres where wisdom and compassion will be spoken to them. We declare that as they hear your words their hearts will leap with joy which will transform their anxious or panic-driven thoughts.

Blessing
We bless you in the name of Jehovah-Nissi, the Lord is your banner. We bless you with the covering and protection of God against those who would cajole, bully or exploit you into making a decision which will not be in line with God's plan and purpose for your life or the life of your unborn child. We bless you with freedom in your spirit to make an informed decision in which you have peace. We bless you with being persuaded that He is able to keep that which you have committed to Him. We bless you to be life bringers and life givers. We bless these families with divine appointments in their time of crisis which will connect them for a moment or some hours with men and women of God who will speak life to them.

Day 2: Nation Focus - Adoption

There are upwards of 6,000 children across the UK needing adoption every year.  Each year in England alone there are around 4,000 children waiting in foster care, unable to live with their birth families.  These children are from a great variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds,  many of these children are of school age and over half of them are in groups of brothers and sisters who need to be placed together.  These children have had unsettled starts in life and all will have experienced some form of loss by being taken into care.  Some of them will have been abused and/or neglected and all will have experienced moves and uncertainty and their resulting behaviour may be challenging.

Adopted children's early experiences mean they can often struggle with relationships and day-to-day life. Although this can present certain challenges, being an adoptive parent is also hugely rewarding and provides the stable, understanding and loving homes these children need.  Some people arrive at adoption following experiences of infertility and for some, adoption is their first choice for starting or extending their family.

As we pray for an ending of abortion in our nation this will more than likely see an increase in the need for adoption so as we pray, we pray for those children currently in the system and those that will be in the future, that God would encounter them, protect them and reveal Himself as their heavenly father. We also pray parents who have adopted or who plan to adopt that they would receive wisdom and guidance from the Lord, that they would raise Godly children who love the Lord and are secure in who they are and that they are loved.  Finally we pray that God would move on the heart of His church in this nation, that He would stir many to adoption, that we would see every child housed with Godly parents, that this generation would be redeemed and that hope would prevail.

Key Verse:

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Rom 8:15

Prayer Starter:

Proclamation
We proclaim today Lord you are Jehovah Rohe, the Shepherd, the one who restores, guides, directs and comforts the ones you love. You bring security, safety and protection. You are the God of the spirits of all mankind (Num 16:22). You send the spirit of your son into our hearts, the spirit that calls out Abba Father (Gal 4:6).

Declaration
We declare that those little ones who have been placed outside their natural parental care will find guidance, direction and nurture in their adoptive families. We declare that they will have the revelation and the experience of knowing you are the Father of their spirits and know that you have adopted them into your family Lord by the power of the work of Christ on the cross and through His shed sacrificial blood. We declare that your Spirit will enter each heart that they may call out Abba to their spiritual Father, regardless of the history of their natural ortheir adoptive parenting. We declare that each will come into the fullness of their Godly inheritance in Christ.

Blessing
We bless you children today awaiting adoption or in adoptive families with a fresh sense of safety and security and with an assurance of being loved and protected. We bless you with contentment and the certain knowledge that all you need will be provided and that you are not alone. We bless you with the benefits of unfailing love towards you. We bless you with healing throughout your generational lines and the deep joy of knowing that your boundaries are secure and that you were made to experience kindness and honour. We bless you with the knowledge that God gave you life and that He preserves your life by His care and He has prepared good things for your life and future.

Additional Verses:  Rom 8:23,  1 Pet 1:3-4,  Eph 2:12-13,  Jer 31:33

Day 2: Prayer for Image - Teaching and Training

Image has a mandate to not only work locally but train and equip those around the nation and the nations in Christian pregnancy counselling skills, one of the only accredited and recognised courses of it’s kind.  Along with training people in the tools to confidently minister in pregnancy counselling with a biblical perspective they also run training trainers courses, to equip people to administer the Image training themselves, enabling multiple courses to be run across the country and around the world.  There are currently courses running in a number of cities around the UK as well as in Spain with opportunities opening up into other nations too.

Image also has a heart to speak to Christians around Manchester and beyond regarding these important life issues and speaking hope and grace, calling the church to understand these complex, often taboo subjects and begin to love people better whilst calling forth God’s plans and purposes for each of their lives.

As we pray for Image regarding their teaching and training we want to ask God for grace and wisdom over the team, particularly Chris Fidler as she reworks some of the materials.  We ask that God would stir hearts to want to be trained to minister effectively and be a voice of hope in the midst of hopeless situations.  We ask for open doors in churches across the the region for the Image team to come and share their stories of redemption and life, that church leaders would engage with these important, life and death issues.

Key Verse:

Pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you...The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one...May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. 2 Thes. 3:1-5

Prayer Starter:

Proclamation
We proclaim you are the Lord our righteousness who raises up your leaders to govern wisely and do what is just and right in the land. You are the Lord who raised up Esther for the protection of her community in her day and Mordecai to work for the good of the people and to speak up for the welfare of all your people.

Declaration
We declare that you are raising up many life giving leaders in this day. You are releasing favour and opening doors for your leaders. You are developing a community of life givers who will teach and model wisdom and understanding, joy in relationship and family who will demonstrate to others that there is a way where there seemed to be no way and who articulate clearly your perspective in difficult situations.

Blessing
We bless Image to be a life giving community with a position of influence such that wisdom and peace flow like a river to envelop the social settings where God places you. We bless you with anointing on your speech, your training and teaching so that you speak peace into the lives of those you reach and that favour will fall on these as you model and require of them levels of discipline and diligence, with love.

Day 3: National Focus - Purity

We are living in a time where sexuality is increasingly being wrongly expressed, used, and exploited. There are the issues of prostitution, trafficking, pornography, abuse, and promiscuity that we see around us, and as this issue burns on the Lord’s heart, He wants to fill us with His zeal to come before Him in prayer for the release of His justice. God's desire is that what burns on His heart would also burn on ours. It is a joy and privilege to join with Jesus as He intercedes on our behalf before His Father's throne; His desire to see His people walk in purity, righteousness and holiness becomes our longing too - not just to pray for it but to commit to walking in it.

Numbers 22-31 tells the story of the Israelites who, after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, were a day away from entering into the Promised Land. Satan’s tactic was to exploit their sexuality and try and ‘stop’ them entering into the promise of God and the inheritance He had for them, and he did this by sending out seductive women who caused the Israelites to sin and which ultimately brought death into their camp. This was and still is, as we see today, the enemy’s tactic to stop a generation from walking into the promises of God, to cause their hearts to turn from being lovers of God to lovers of pleasure. In that scripture, in the midst of the Israelite camp, we see Phinehas consumed with zeal for God and take a stand. His act of intercession caused the plague to end. God is calling us, too, to take a stand and the time is now!

Key Verse:

Jesus gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:14

Prayer starter:

Proclamation
You alone Lord are the Holy One. You are without spot or blemish. Your holiness is who you are. Jesus is the only perfect one. You are the Lord who makes us holy. You sanctify us and bring us into Wholeness of spirit, soul and body. You cleanse, heal and restore your people.

Declaration
We declare that you are raising a generation in the UK and beyond who have come into agreement with your promises and believed your Word and experienced your love such that they are committed to walk in purity of heart. mind and body. You are empowering these ones to detach themselves from the world's values and cling to what is good and keep themselves pure. You Lord are taking back territory yielded through the so called sexual revolution and releasing grace to resist temptation. We do not presume on your mercy Lord but we come by the blood of your Lamb.

Blessing
We bless all in this generation to know the joy of transferring their vision for purity to the hearts and spirits of others. We bless them with grace to impart these values deep into the being of those they influence. We bless each one to draw others into the alignment of God's design...spirit, soul and body in that order. We bless those working in sexual health agencies and forums to be productive and effective in their care and the wisdom released through their work, especially to young people.

Day 3: Prayer for Image - Finance and Structure

The current Image office consists of one administrator, one Pregnancy Helpline administrator, two family support workers,  two pregnancy Helpline workers and one main trainer. There are three non office based trainers and a training team for the main course is needed so that the current trainers can move on to training trainers and supervising development across the country. The Helpline team needs strengthening and also the numbers of those who operate from home and the satellite centres in Congleton, Blackburn and Tameside. These workers carry a significant amount of pressure. Chris has been invited back in the Autumn to attend the first Spanish course run by those she has previously trained and is also needing to finalise the Step by Step manual and get it printed ready for distribution in the Autumn. Alongside all of this is the regular work in Manchester with clients locally and also in the area Prisons. Many of these staff have been further burdened by serious ill health themselves or within their families.

Like most ministries, Image is funded by the generous support of churches and individuals in the region and nation who see the God given mandate on Image and value the work they are doing. Over recent years there has been increasing pressure on the finances at Image and we are seeking God to raise up a partnership team around Image, who would sow financially to see the work flourish and grow.

Key verse:

'My daughter shall I not seek security for you that it may be well with you?’ Ruth 3:1

Prayer starter:

Proclamation
You God are Jehovah Shalom. You are God who releases strategy and a knowledge of your ways in battle. The Lord is Peace. You reveal yourself as present and with us in the midst of chaos. You are the Lord who knows the end from the beginning. You Lord smile on those who trust in your name.

Declaration
We declare that this is a time of change for you and that God is bringing you Image into the blessings of Ruth, that as you make decisions to move forward into the unknown the Lord will release to you capacity to make exceptional decisions and be known as those who bring the exceptional into being for the future. There may be testing in this pioneering but gradually the unknown becomes the familiar which then moves into the gaining of favour and prosperity.  There is great grace for you in this time and encouragement to press on and not look behind or to the past.

Blessings
We bless you with peace in the midst of change and turmoil as you stand against your culture. We bless you with an overflow of the knowledge of God that causes you to walk in the anointing of His Presence. We bless you with seeing the interventions of God repeatedly in your personal and corporate lives. We bless you with walking in alignment with the ways of God and knowing that He calls you Mighty Warriors but that you do not walk on your own in this calling.

Day 4: National Focus - Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide and Suicide

Euthanasia, now legal in several countries, is illegal in Britain. Pressure for its legalisation has steadily increased in recent years. So far no British Government has been prepared to make euthanasia legal.

There is constant pressure from groups favouring legalised euthanasia for the legalisation of assisted suicide as a first step towards having euthanasia made legal. Assisted suicide bills in Parliament have so far been unsuccessful.  There has been too much focus on what is being called a 'right to die' and too little thought given to understanding what dying is and how we deal with it.  As we pray for these issues, remember to keep in the front of your mind that our God is a healer, He gives life and He gives each breathe we breath.

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the UK.  Suicide is often link with mental heath conditions, as well as drug and alcohol abuse and is intricately linked to hopelessness and low self worth.  As we pray, we are lifting up each person struggling with suicidal thoughts, asking that God would intervene in their lives, bringing hope and comfort.   We also want to pray for those people and organisation who are seeking to support those suffering, that God would resource and equip them and give them strength.

Key Verse:

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;
I say, “You are my God.”
My times are in Your hand;
…Make Your face shine upon Your servant;
  Ps 31:14-16

Prayer Starter:

Proclamation
Lord you are the one who forms the spirit of man and watches over man's spirit. You are the Lord who gives life and preserves life.

Declaration
We declare that our times are in your hands. We declare that your word is living and active,  sharper than any two edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing between soul and spirit,  joint and marrow. We declare that you encounter us spirit to spiritand are yearning to do so up until the last breath leaves our bodies. You are bringing comfort and refreshing to those at the end of their lives through your people working in the field , caring for those in palliative and terminal care.

Blessings
We bless you with being those who are chosen to be with those who lack peace and to take the peace within you and share it with them. We blessyou with an anointing in your spirit to open closed doors of other people's spirits so that the peace, truth, lifeand freedom you carry reaches into their spirits. We bless your people to be those bringing light to those who find themselves walking in darkness.

Additional Verses: Gen 2:7, Ps 73:26, Eph 3:16, 2 Cor 10:3-5, Jn 10:10, 28, Jn 1:4, Gen 27:46, Deut 6:2, Deut 30:15, 20, Ruth 4:15, 1 Sam 26:24, 2 Sam 1:9, Job 6:11, Job 7:16, Job 10:12, Job 33:4, Ps 16:11, Ps 21:4, Ps 40:14, Ps 54:4, Ps 86:14, Ps 119:50, Ps 143:3, Pro 14:27, Lk 12:23, Jn 5:40, Jn 6:63, Rom 8:6, Gal 6:8, Eph 4:18, Jas 1:12, 1 Jn 3:14-15

Day 4: Prayer for Image - Staff Wellness

Within the core team of Image there have been very serious health issues over a period of two years or so. Heart disease and cancer have caused significant disruption to the lives of team and family. Time as resource for the work has been under great pressure and limitation as a result of a variety of circumstances.  This puts Helpline hours and administration under great strain. There is an on going need for further manpower to be drawn into the team at every level in Image.

As you pray for the staff and volunteer team at Image ask for God’s blessing, favour, peace and grace over them and their families as they press into what the Lord is calling them to at Image.  We pray protection and health over these ones who are seeking to bring life not death, may they walk in the fulness of life.

Key Verse:

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the labourers are few.
Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.”
  Mat 9:37-38

Prayer Starter:

Proclamation
You are the Lord who heals us and restores our spirit, souls and bodies.

Declaration
Lord, You are ushering in your Spirit of Life where death has had a foothold and you are raising up warriors to take a stand against the outworkingsof casual attitudes towards life and death issues. You are raising up pioneers to modelyour heart towards the dying , the lonely, the desperate and the abandoned and you are strengthening your warriors in their spirits, souls and bodies. We declare the protection of God over every life involved in the work at Image.
